WASHINGTON — A bridge that walkers and runners use near the Thompsons Boat House on the Potomac River has temporarily closed for repairs.
Anyone traveling in the area is asked to take an alternate route.
Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency reported that the pedestrian bridge on Virginia Avenue, NW has some structure and integrity issues. As a result, the bridge has been closed off for safety issues.
United States Park Police will be handling the repairs. A District Department of Transportation inspector from Street, Bridge, and Maintenance is at the bridge to assess the situation.
In a statement issued by Rock Creek Park/National Park Service, the bridge between the parking lot and Thompson's Boat Center is closed to all pedestrians and vehicles.
